Making jam in four steps.
The first joy is picking them from the tree, one by one, enjoying their sweet scent and that vibrant yellow colour that brings cheer.
Near the Ficumori house, there's a secret garden, enclosed within an abandoned ruin, where an old lemon tree continues to produce generous fruit that we willingly collect. They are there, available for those who appreciate them.
We're washing them quickly because they're super organic, no treatments have polluted them.
Ingredients:
1 kg of lemons
400 grams of brown sugar
A few mint leaves
Then we slice them and leave them to soak in fresh water for 4/5 hours.
Drain the lemons and place them in a pot, adding the sugar, and cook over low heat for 40 minutes.
The run-off water was kept in a jug and was immediately served as a refreshing drink, greatly appreciated!
We pour the jam into airtight jars, adding a mint leaf from the garden to each one: a touch of freshness for our homemade jam.
Then we turn the jar upside down to remove the air and create a vacuum.
Our jam is ready!
